Sorry for the delay.

I would put a section "Use this template for ..." also into article-template.docbook.

Not sure about the renaming: the main one (used most of the time) is going to be template.docbook. 
Also: so far, the name of the template gave an hint to the name pattern of the final document (man-template.docbook), now it's a bit more confusing with also article-docbook (with or without book-template). Should we add some notes to man-template.docbook about the naming schema?
