I am going ahead with the kwrite application. Have cloned its repo. Where can i find its documentation?

Unfortunatey the last release of kcoloredit on http://download.kde.org/stable/
extragear/ is quite old (> 6 years), therefore it is no longer provided by
distribution like debian or ubuntu.

So it is probably better to start with another application?
