Hi,

Please check if there is kdenlive.mo file in the 
/usr/share/locale/fr/LC_MESSAGES

If it is there, use "Help -> Switch Application Language" to switch the locale  
to "Français".

If it is not, please try to install the newest and best stable version for 
Ubuntu from the official PPA:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:kdenlive/kdenlive-stable
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install kdenlive
