Hi,
The Screen Saver (KScreenSaver) Help page should tell end users how to
get Screen Saver (KScreenSaver) to import XScreenSaver screensavers.
Here is a rough draft of my proposed addition:
"If you want to add XScreenSaver screensavers to Screen Saver
(KScreenSaver), install "kscreensaver" and any of the XScreenSaver
screensaver packages that have the XScreenSaver screensavers that you
want (xscreensaver-gl, xscreensaver-gl-extra,
xscreensaver-screensaver-bsod, and/or rss-glx). Install
"kscreensaver-xsavers" to allow KScreenSaver to use the XScreenSaver
screensavers. Install "kscreensaver-xsavers-extra" to allow
KScreenSaver to use the "extra" XScreenSaver screensavers. Make sure
to also install "xscreensaver" (but don't ever run "xscreensaver";
i.e., don't ever launch the XScreenSaver daemon)."
Note to KDE: I don't know whether adding "xscreensaver" will do the
trick for every personal computer--adding "xscreensaver" did the trick
for my PC--allowed/caused KScreenSaver to import all the XScreenSaver
screensavers. I'd incorrectly thought that adding only "kscreensaver",
"kscreensaver-xsavers", "kscreensaver-xsavers-extra" and all the
XScreenSaver screensaver packages that I wanted would add all these
XScreenSaver screensavers to KScreenSaver. Adding "xscreensaver" did
the trick!! Now KScreenSaver was LOADED with great screensavers! I've
noticed that a number of end users (such as myself) don't know how to
get KScreenSaver to import the XScreenSaver screensavers.
