Not sure if I got you right, does not work with Kubuntu (latest version=??), 
but without any  trouble from almost any other distro (using kde?).

If it works using kde in any other distro, but not in Kubuntu, what can we 
(KDE Documentation team) do then?

Either it is a Kubuntu or KDE bug, in both cases please use the appropriate 
bug tracker to report your issue.
