From my memory, not experience cause I never had a samba share to connect
to:
KNetattach is just a simple gui for "smb://192.168.1.3/SharedFolder" or
"smb://computernamewithSambaShare/SharedFolder".

If the windows share is properly configured, libsmbclient (required for kdelbs)
installed and it does not work, then it is usually a name resolving problem.

Did you try to enter the ip of the computer with the windows share instead of
the name into the server field?

Using the computer name in the server field and browsing for smb shares usually
works without problem, if either a WINS-Server is activ in the local network
or if the ip's/name's of all computers are added to /etc/hosts.

Otherwise a broadcast is used to find the share, but before that all local dns
servers in /etc/resolv.conf are queried. Slow response from a dns server -
happnes often with a local router as dns server - may delay network browsing
up to a timeout so that shares are not found.

Does anyone on list have acces to a windows share or WebDAV and can write such
a walkthrough?

Birger, if you somehow manage to get access to the smb share, it would be
great to report that here, maybe we could add that as troubleshooting section
to the documentation.

Thanks.
