The docbook has been checked as valid XML... The HTML is put within the 
comments to avoid loosing information about images and links that will be 
added in the next iteration. Is this a general problem with po2xml? (should we 
avoid < and > within XML comments?).

In any case, if your're going to fix this in the docbook, please at least 
leave the information by replacing:

<!--<a href="05_01_00_table_designing.html">-->

with:
<!-- a href="05_01_00_table_designing.html" -->
