yes. this is a "preserve backwards compatibility" setting that i put in there 
a couple releases ago when i changed the behaviour. so far nobody that i know 
of has used it, nor has anybody asked about it. i really wonder if i should 
have just gotten rid of this all together. oh well. next release =)
