Hi,
I'm Prayag Jain, the developer of Drawy, a free and open source
whiteboard app written in C++ and Qt6, featuring an infinite canvas. I'm
willing to make Drawy a part of KDE by following the KDE incubation process
mentioned here <https://develop.kde.org/docs/getting-started/add-project/>.
At the moment, KDE is missing a good whiteboard app, which is an essential
tool many people expect their operating systems to already have. For
example, Microsoft Whiteboard is a tool used by millions of people on
Windows 11. I believe Drawy can fill this gap and provide the KDE Community
with a stable and fast whiteboard app which can fulfill their brainstorming
needs.
I'm writing this mail in order to request a sponsor for the incubation
process of Drawy. The relevant incubation request issue can be found here
<https://invent.kde.org/prayag/drawy/-/issues/79> on KDE Invent.
*The following are some details about Drawy and its future plans:*Drawy is
a free and open source whiteboard app written in Qt/C++. It aims to be a
desktop native alternative to the web-based Excalidraw. It features an
infinite canvas with a relatively simple and easy to use interface. Its
main features are:
1. An infinite canvas with infinite zoom
2. Essential tools: Pen, shapes, selection, move, eraser, and text tool.
3. Undo and redo
4. Save and load files
5. Group/ungroup multiple items
6. Drawing tablet support with pressure sensitivity
7. Dark/Light mode
We also plan to document the entire code-base using Doxygen style comments
to make it easier for new contributors to get started.
I hope the KDE Community will be able to benefit by adopting Drawy as an
official whiteboard app.
Regards,
Prayag Jain
