Thank you very much Angus! I gave this some time last night but wasn't 
successful. I'm at work now and in between tasks I tried checking out 
the latest snapshot of Scribus from cvs. As it turns out it actually 
configures so far!

Configuration Summary:

FreeType2 installed: Yes
CUPS installed:      No
LittleCMS installed: Yes
TiffLib installed:   No
Libxml2 installed:   No
The Scripter-Plugin will not be compiled.


Good - your configure finished. Start make now


cboothe at IT-staff ~/src/Scribus
$ make
...

I'll post my progress along the way as usual. I also think at this point 
I am going to send an email to the Scribus list to let them know how far 
I have gotten.
