That's a pity; maybe this should be more clearly documented on
<http://kde-cygwin.sourceforge.net/qt3-win32/compiling.php>, especially since
the gcc2 cygwin package is not available from the standard setup anymore 
(see <http://sources.redhat.com/ml/cygwin-announce/2003-10/msg00014.html>). One
might expect more questions from ignorant people like me.

I was able to find an old gcc2 package and by editing setup.ini installed it;
and I compiled Qt without the ld patch (has this already been fixed in the
cygwin binutils package?) so maybe the reference to the patched ld may be
deleted from the page as well.
