Random guess: pre ./. post eventloop generation?
Try to make addActions() a slot and bind it to the QMenu aboutToShow() signal. (You'll need "QMenu *menu = qobject_cast<QMenu*>(sender());" since ::addActions() must not have a parameter for signature match)
