thanks, I was googling for some x11 or kde api, I guess I'll take a look at
dbus

but it seems rather weird to me that you want to watch the locker from

layout widget is quite passive element: it mostly just listens to xkb layout
changes and displays the active layout, plus allows to switch it by pressing
button, more than that it does not know where it's embedded in — it's the
kded keyboard daemon which listens to window changes and switches active
layout based on that.
