pulling a 2 meg lib (which again pulls something like 40 more libs of
*very* varying sizes) for one small class is where "makes sense" does
not apply by my standards.

if you can come up with sufficiently many plasma apps to justify it (by
whatever standards you may want to apply), you are free to add a derived
class to libplasma for convenience.
while "plasma everywhere" may seem self-evident to you, not all of kde
is or even should be somehow plasma-related. if you think something is
of utility beyond plasma, then put it in some more "neutral" place
instead of making "beyond" use plasma.
