Tested http://www.crashthisthing.com/select.html on a 64bit installation with 
KDE 4.2.4 - Konqueror indeed allocated more and more memory (I killed the 
process after some seconds when it was >3Gb, since I need to do real work).

Interesting finding, although not spectacular. :-)
