AFAIU, sftp can be enabled by the ssh server. fish is a 
workaround if this isn't enabled. I've moved to using sftp when 
possible and for servers I use a lot, sshfs is much more 
convenient. IMO, all ssh servers should have sftp enabled since 
it's the same security as ssh, just convenience, making fish 
obsolete.
