I debian packager posted a patch to kde-buildsystem, which started the 
discussion:

I know we have quite a lot of mailing lists in KDE, and it is not possible for 
everybody to follow all of them (including me), so sometimes you miss stuff.
OTOH e.g. the linux kernel has one huge mailing list (lkml has about 200-300 
mails per day), but this is so much traffic it is actually also not really 
possible to follow it.
