No, only more noisy. But if you read the arguments carefully than they
seem to conveniently ignore that GIO is based on the matured gnomevfs,
kio has a large rewrite as well and GIO main developer is a RH
employee, glib getting attention from big companies like nokia and
intel.
Your just adding a slave, not rewriting kio.

In my personal opinion I think its in the interest of Qt/KDE to
integrate with the defacto standards for less maintainability at the
OS side. KDE greatness is the user experience not the code running it.
