KDE install path symlink problems

Hello,

I have a problem regarding symlink support for the KDE install path.

My KDE install prefix is /usr/local/kde4. But that is a symlink to a different 
harddisk partition, because I do not have much space on root partition. It 
resolves to /mnt/local/kde4.

Now many things check _both_ /usr/local/kde4 and /mnt/local/kde4 paths.
This results in slower icon loading, or in all window decorations listed twice 
in kwin KCM.

Is symlinked install path unsupported, or is this a bug in KDE?
