Just to notify of an interesting article.
The article on lwn.net pointed to this email:

It seems that the author of HAL wants to move away from it creating new
tools called DeviceKit*
As soon as Gnome 2.26 ( released about the time of KDE 4.2?) he wants to
migrate GNOME desktop to the new tools.
I guess this mail should go to the Solid mailing list instead of here ...
