i'm a little concerned about putting an app in kdegraphics that probably
relatively few people actually have a use for (though those who do probably
really appreciate it being available).

i'd much rather see this kind of title in extragear/graphics/ do it's audience
being a significantly small % of all desktops. i'm attempting to keep
kdegraphics as "useful tiny utilities and used-by-most-people applications",
and extragear-released-with-kde4 as "quality apps useful to a specific
audience".

(kfax is really even worse in this regard, but has been grandparented in on a
short-term basis until okular can fully take over. it probably should have
been moved to extragear in any case.)

the scanning library is more generally interesting as a large number of apps
have interest in such a thing to drive scanning features. that i can see
ending up in kdegraphics, but we still have to figure out exactly what's
going on with libkscan, libkscan-in-the-work-branch and libksane.

which apps use libksane right now besides Skanlite?

if the new libkscan will be dropped in favour of libksane, then we can
deprecate libkscan in kdegraphics and start prepping libksane to the be
replacement recommendation.

best would be to have a couple of potential consumers of libksane outside of
Skanlite look into it and give it their approval before moving it into
kdegraphics.

so, to sum up:

* libksane, when it is ready and if we have consensus between you and Jonathan
Martin to standardize on that one, to kdegraphics. deprecates libkscan

* glimpse to extragear/graphics/, marked for release with the regular kde4
extragear tarballs

sound ok?
