It should auto-detect, choosing CUPS if available and LPR if not.  If it has 
detected CUPS, then all the available CUPS printers will be listed in the 
print dialog, and whatever is selected there is where it should send the job 
to.  Is there something in particular that makes you think its actually using 
LPR instead?
