I'm going for the easiest solution: finding ALL clashes is hard. It takes a
long time and we're sure to miss something. Especially something that isn't
detected during the installation, like upgrading shared files and everything.
I *really* don't like policies set on stone that people can't touch. If the
best solution is to change the policies, then I expect distributions to do
it. However, I am not saying it is -- let's see what happens when we fix the
clashes that were raised in this thread.
I posted a proposal on the subject a while ago and I stopped caring about it
because I found it too complex. There's a lot more than the files posted
here.
