A littlebit related/unrelated:

Another dependency nightmare?:

kate (kdesdk), or better said ktexteditor (kdelibs) has a runtime dependency
on kdepim, for the templating code, if a template requires the user name or
email address. Since the needed plugin is there. (kabc + kaddressbook (app)
dependency). -> Since almost every template uses those informations you have
to install kdepim to have a fully functionally kate (and perhaps kdevelop)
(Everything was so easy in kde3, with kabc in kdelibs and kaddressbook in
kdebase)

Kind regards
