Indeed, I can't think of any reason why one would want that - unless
you use some silly date-scheme like DD-MM-YYYY ;-)

But seriously, such a date would be the only reason to have it
increase the first number, and to be honest, I think optimizing for
such a special case would be bad. I'm all for increasing the last
number, unless someone would be willing (and able) to add a special
case (with autodetect) for dates or something.

Making it configurable would be a bit overkill for something as simple
as this. I think ppl should just adjust the way they work (eg use the
YYYY-MM-DD date scheme if they insist on a date, or just use
DD-MM-YYYY-#).
