You haven't tried snapshots for a long time have you?

Unless you're of course suggesting replacing the algorithm in Qt with an older 
and a little slower version of it which I must say is a bad idea =)

As to the assembly code I have a task to rewrite it using intrinsics because 
then it would work across more platforms than gnu/linux+gcc. If you'd like to 
write that and provide a patch that'd be wicked awesome otherwise all i can 
say is "it's fixed in 4.3".
