Our Subversion repository is too complex for git-svn. It can't handle the 
entire history without giving up somewhere.

git-svn has to be improved before it can import the full history.

So, don't try. Choose a starting point and work from there. If you need to 
annotate or check earlier history, use svn or websvn.
