objections to disallowing in-source builds in all KDE modules ?

  Perhaps it's a good idea to teach people the cmake way, yes.  On the other 
hand, "read the INSTALL file" sounds less than pleasant.  3-4 lines of how to 
do it the quick and easy way would really help:

"execute the following commands for a default build:
cmake .......
....
"
