I see - so is this, how the #if defined(__linux__) switch came about?

Actually, I have to admit not to have read any cdparanoia documentation
in order to find out what the assertions are about which fields are
filled... I just discovered the problem by looking at the drive
structure in gdb...

Maybe one should just use my fall-back in both cases (linux and non-linux)?
