need an idea for kxkb (multiple variants UI)

I gave up hinting about the variant in gnome-keyboard-indicator. The
best I could is to provide the tooltip with the layout + variant (in
readable format). But you have to move the mouse cursor to see it...
Anyway, in many (most?) cases people do not use several variants for
the same country at the same time (why would I need two Russian
layouts simultaneously?:)
