Two dbus on the same system

Hi,

Are DBUS versions BIC? I have a fairy recent distribution (SUSE 10.1),
which uses DBUS 0.60. KDE4 requires 0.62, so I simply installed it over
the system provided DBUS. The result is that after the first restart
(my wife forgot how to suspend to disk ;-)) lot of things started to
not work. For example the powersave deamon said something like
"ERROR (MainLoop:61) Error setting up connection to DBus system bus.
Aborting..."

Installing the system DBUS was a small challenge as well, as
automounting of DVDs did not work anymore (=YaST unusable to install
software), so I had to manually update the packages.

This was a hint that the problem is with DBUS. Now the question is how
can I develop and use KDE4 without messing up my system?

Andras
