Elektra backend for KDE

Hi
It is time to write an alternative Elektra (http://libelektra.org) backend
to KDE, in place of the INI files, and I decided to start this work.
I am browsing the classes and I´m a bit confused.
- Should I inherit only KConfigBackend ?
- What is the relation between KConfig (or KConfigBase) and KConfigBackend ?
- Is KConfig 100% backend-independent ?
- Where is the point in KDE that is defined that KConfigINIBackEnd is the
backend to use ?
- I appreciate any other tips.... :-)
