Windows file APIs support both / and \ as pathname separators. So, both
file:///C:/Directory/Example
and
file:///C:\Directory\Example
refer to the same resource.
On command lines pathnames that begin with '/' are likely to be mistaken
for switches/options, so '\' is commonly used.
