yes. it has serious scalability issues (the hardware section and desktop icon
both show this pretty well) and is, AFAIK, untested for usability.
right now it doesn't fit on 800x600 without scrollbars (using smallish fonts
and plastik), looks fugly when drilling down a level from the icon view to
the multicon list pane on the left, and lacks a number of possibly useful
features like related panels and inline help.
i know the plan is to try and cut down on the kcontrol hierarchy which would
help with the scalability issues, but that needs to be proven it can be done
first IMHO before moving to a solution that requires such a set of changes.
and perhaps the features i mentioned could be bolted on.
but this really feels like our oft repeated "let's copy $OTHER_OS, only do a
poorer job of it." can we not do better? maybe not, i don't know. have you
worked with artists and usability people to arrive at this design?
