It would still be better to release the best possible kate, if the code is ok. 
I did (as you might have seen) the two trivial patches, the other one might 
wait, but since the problems with encoding are annoying and confusing for the 
user, (as much as for example the problem with the code completion) I'd 
prefer to have it in now.
