Okay, all clear now. Let me confirm here what Andy already said earlier: 
Switching the KDE ports in FreeBSD to gcc3 on FreeBSD 4.x is not doable, 
since the dependency tree is just too big. The number of ports and packages 
of c++ programs that would have to follow suit indeed doesn't equal "all", 
but it equals "too damn many". :)
