It is used in the wv2 library used by KWord to import MS-Word documents, but
this is optional.
It is used by gstreamer, which some multimedia apps depend on, also
optionally.
If gstreamer becomes the main backend for KDE 4, we again have a mandatory
glib dependency (even worse, because there's no older gstreamer not depending
on it, unlike arts).
