heh .. well, the panel is space constrained. and python is orthogonal to # of
pixels consumed ;)

yeah, if you kill the other 2^N channels =)
that icon is still pretty well known and is a nice compat interface. to make
the kmix applet as obvious would require adding some sort of visual cue that
says "audio" really obviously. i'm not really sure the kmix applet does that.
the icons it uses are also tiny and ugly. =(
