Thanks! I tried them and they work well.

But there are two question which came to my mind:
1) Is the BIC problem compiler- or linker-specific? I tried running a kdesktop 
compiled  against kdelibs-3.3 and then upgraded to kdelibs-3.4 without any 
problems, the wallpaper download still works.
2) Why don't we use libtool sonames? e.g. the ones in kdeui were last changed 
back in 2002.
Whoever knows the answers please add them to the binary compatibility FAQ.
