Let me be frank: I have repeatedly seen coding guidelines fail and I am no 
longer fond of them. They create more problems than they solve (i.e, to stop 
bickering about coding style, they create more bickering.) 

As another point, the very few-policies, do-what-you-like freedom in hacking 
KDE is a great attraction, at least to me. I would be sorry to see a lot of 
guidelines bogging down the fun part of hacking.
