Build system (was Re: Future of KDE Development)

Hi,

What if a new build system appears, with the simplicity and power we want, and 
simply enough to parse by IDEs? 
What I mean is if there isn't (apparently) a good enough build system 
available, capable of generating a concensus, do we have to change ours now 
(though KDE 4 is a good time for changing things)?
