My normal environment is compiled with no optimizations and full debug.  If 
it's fast here (and it's pretty decent), it should be *screaming* with full 
optimizations. ;)
Since algorithm complexity is the largest bottleneck for speed in general, I 
think it would be great if the KDE developers (especially those who have the 
Athlon 64s with 2GB RAM ;) would always use non-optimized builds when trying 
to develop or optimize.
