Note that this works well with fairly small fonts for the text under icons on 
toolbars; I have large fonts set (Lucida 12, I think) so that my menus are 
large enough to see and hit easily; if I were to use text-under-icons I'd 
want to have Lucida 8 or so there, because the text isn't primarily there to 
enlarge the area of the button, but to identify it.

In other words, with a separate font setting for text-under-icon ... ... the 
one we already _have_, it'd be pretty darn usable. Hot damn, you learn 
something new every day. (And now I can see much better that texts like 
"Previous Unread Message" should be shorter, with a longer tooltip, like in 
Peter's most recent patch.
