Bug 89388: KListView - maintain proper continuity of alternately colored rows

Hello!

I opened Bug #89388 (http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=89388), 
and would like to make an effort seeing what sort of luck I have in 
resolving it...

Not that I have any great hopes in my abilities; but I figure I should at 
least make the effort.

I've already partially skimmed through the docs and klistview.cpp,
however I'd like to get advice on what the most efficient method
for testing my changes would be.  I'm afraid delving into learning
how to create my own super simple KListView tester program
will only complicate matters - so I was wondering whether 
there already existed such a thing; or if someone on the list 
could give me a couple quick points in the right direction.
