Most apps do not provide sufficient dcop calls to be able to automate things 
to this degree (we've tried - the level of access provided by dcop is rather 
different application to application, and some of the things we have 
screenshots of are simply not accessible, nor would making them accessible be 
of all that much use other than for taking screenshots.

If it could have been done any other way, it wouldn't have taken 5+ years of 
trying to get it done. 

In any case, there is a free license for kdexecutor for KDE development 
purposes, so having to fetch the script and fetch kdexecutor, is not really a 
barrier to it's intended use.
