See below for an announcement regarding a desktop developers conference. We
really need to have some KDE presence here. The more information and
committment we get early on, the bigger and better the conference can be. In
case you weren't aware, OLS is July 21st->24th, so the desktop conference
will be July 19-20.

Of course we would like to see KDE people at OLS this year too - I will be
there.

Registration
We're at the 27 day mark before the end of the early registration discounts.
We're at 201 people registered and expect to double that in the next week or
two. Remember, we limit things to about 500 people overall, registering
sooner is better than later.

Hotel/Ride Sharing
If you're looking for people to share a hotel room or a ride up to the
Symposium with please email ajh at linuxsymposium.org and we can help you get in
touch with others in similar circumstances.

Desktop Developers' Conference
We're going to be holding a Desktop Developers' Conference (name subject to
change) on July 19-20th (Mon-Tuesday before OLS) at the Congress Centre. The
event is intended to be for people working on core functionality with various
userspace and desktop development efforts, GNOME, KDE, OpenOffice, Mozilla,
and more. If you're interested in more details as they become available we
recommend you subscribe to the announcement list for the event at;
http://lists.linuxsymposium.org/mailman/listinfo/desktop-announce
Please forward this information to anyone who might be interested. With
people making travel plans for OLS we wanted to let everyone know. The
Conference will go ahead, the size and scope is yet to be determined. We are
hoping for much productive dialog.
