Hi,

Currently the shared-mime-data database isn't very well maintained.
Thomas Leonard and I do some work on it part-time, but it really needs
an active maintainer.  This maintainer would need to go through
freedesktop's bugzilla, actively move mime-types to the IANA, and make
timely releases.  They'd also have to work with the various desktop as
issues are raised.
