glib-free build impossible?

mmh I do that too and, oh, I don't even see glib in the requirements page...
though, some KDE applications are clearly non-functional without an ARTS sound 
server.

does that mean an alternative ARTS_1_1_BRANCH tarball will be part of the 
official release? :-)
