There are multiple clauses in the GPL referring to linking and distributing source code.
If the copyrighted work in question cannot be "linked", and has no 'source code", then
the whole license would be legally ambiguous and wouldn't apply, and you fall back to
general copyright that says you can't distribute the thing at all.

The GPL is simply not meant to apply to such things. You're supposed to use one of the
other licenses meant for artistic creations.
