syncX(); requestShutdown() - necessary?

In a couple of places in kicker syncX() is called right before
kapp::requestShutdown. It seemes to be in excess considering requestShutdown
starts with calling syncX. Is there a reason for this?
Anyway, attached patch removes those lines.
